Bernie makes Chocolate Crinkles

Finally! I’ve officially finished the last of my university assignments forever, though my graduation won’t take place till March 2010!! But I’m excited about looking forward to my working life, and the best part is not worrying about studying for exams (but I’ve been mulling over my last ever exams coming in the next two week!! /gasp)!

Edit: I’ve decided to revert back to my old name as it was tedious to let my friends know that I’ve changed my blog. Apologies to EVERYONE who have been changing their bookmarks and links (seriously ;A;)!!!!

Anyway to celebrate all of that, I made Chocolate Crinkles.

Bernie makes The Wildwood Brownies!

Made these brownies over the weekend, they are not wild, and they are definitely not made in the woods! Frankly, I don’t even know why they were named that, but I baked them after my last assignment on Monday and then got lazy to type a post on it till now. Heck, its exam period now and I’m writing/editing this post! =/

Bernie makes Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake!

Semester 1 of my Final Year has been hectic, so many MANY assignments to do and with only 3 weeks left to the end of semester! I don’t even know why there is a proportional increase to the year you are studying and the amount of assignments you have to do? Dang University and their excessive need for assignments!

Bernie makes Nigella’s Chocolate Chip Muffins!

Hey all! I’m finally back from no camera land, having finally found a cheap and usable battery charger for my 2700A batteries. So during that time period, I’ve just ended my 4th year in University, and am now getting ready for exams~ Since my papers are rather late in November, I’ll have the time to do a bit of baking. I’ll also be getting down to doing that step by step guide for my cheesecake pan preparation soon, but for now I have another muffin recipe from the ever lovely Nigella Lawson.

Bernie makes Chocolate Chip Muffins!

Its been quite a while since I last posted something, been enjoying my one month holiday overseas and visiting my family. Now that I’m back, hopefully energized, I’ll be back to baking more things in no time. =D

Melbourne mornings in winter have never been pleasant, it gets cold quickly even with the sun shining at 9am (I have been spending my nights watching the Tour de France, mind you) and I need something warm and breakfasty besides bread from the freezer spread with kaya (a coconut egg jam), peanut butter or Nutella. Luckily, there are muffins to the rescue!

Nigella's ccc 2

I’ve finally completed my 3000 word essay on Emotional Intelligence last Thursday and decided to make chocolate chip cookies as a reward. I found this recipe watching a youtube video featuring Nigella Lawson making these chocolate chip morsels, stuffed with 500 grams (2 packets) of chocolate chips. Re-watching the video and writing down the recipe, I baked them one night later.

Bernie makes Chocolate Pancakes! (Take One)

I LOVE pancakes, especially just plain fluffy ones. The Pancake Parlour on Bourke Street opposite Myers sells really good pancakes. I prefer their sweet pancakes to the savoury ones, just not used to eating them with scrambled eggs, bacon or potatoes. For chocolate lovers, try the Chocolate Strawberry Jubilee set which has 2 fluffy chocolate pancakes topped with vanilla ice-cream, surrounded by strawberries and chocolate sauce. Heaven =D~

Choc Pancakes 1

I decided to make chocolate pancakes to celebrate re-surviving the first two weeks of University life (lots of reading and problem solving but manageable). The stacks were basically topped with various sweet things like maple syrup and ice-cream. The photo above was my brother’s set, a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and maple syrup. I topped my own with sliced banana, a bit of chocolate ice-cream and maple syrup. It was a chocolate overdose but in the heat, it was worth it!

Choc Pancakes 2

I would have preferred to bake but due to the strange heat wave sweeping across the whole country, just turning on the stove made the apartment I live in unbearable. Quite unbelievable that temperatures soared up to 39 degrees Celsius in autumn, even though its just the beginning of the season. The weirdest part was that it was colder in summer than it is now.
